Fr. Dennis with the 1st and 2nd Grade

For many years the Catholic communities at Our Lady of Joy, St. Gabriel the Archangel and St. Rose Duchesne longed for a Catholic school north of Loop 101. In the spring of 2009, Bishop Thomas Olmsted and the Diocese of Phoenix approved a joint Diocesan school between the parishes to ultimately be located on the St. Gabriel campus. Annunciation Catholic School was conceived.  Since that time, we have been bringing this school to birth.   With the help of many faithful people, we are moving forward in fundraising, designing and building our permanent school to serve students through the 8th grade.

In its inaugural year, Annunciation offered first and second grades, with third grade added in the fall of 2010. The school facility includes three newly remodeled classrooms in the parish hall building, a portable, wireless computer lab, library in an adjacent building, and a playground in the space between. The school doors opened for classes on August 12, 2009.

As we look to the future, we have plans for growth.  In 2011 we will add 4th grade and a new classroom will be prepared to accommodate the students.  During this school year we will focus on a capital campaign to raise funds for our permanent school complex that will be located just south and west of the current classrooms.  The new campus will house two classrooms per grade, a science lab, art room, music room, and a special needs classroom as well as a cafeteria/gymnasium.

We need to remember, all that we do is for the greater glory of God.  May St. Gabriel and our Blessed Mother Mary protect us.
